Hirfanlı HEPP Rehabilitation Project
Hirfanlı HEPP Rehabilitation Project
Hirfanlı Hydroelectric Power Plant (HEPP), built on the Kızılırmak River, is located near the village of Hirfanlı in the Kaman District of Kırşehir Province, approximately 150 kilometers from Ankara. The plant consists of four units, each with a capacity of 32 MWe, totaling 128 MWe. The first three units were commissioned in 1959/60, while the fourth unit became operational in 1982. A notable feature of the fourth unit is that all of its equipment was manufactured using domestic resources.
Hirfanlı HEPP generates an average of 300 GWh of electricity annually.
An evaluation of the plant's rehabilitation needs, based on factors such as operating and maintenance costs, cost-effectiveness, efficiency, and quality metrics, highlights the aging of the electromechanical equipment and the decline in performance and reliability. These issues underscore the necessity of rehabilitating the plant to restore efficiency and operational reliability.
