Gezende Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant was built on the Ermenek Stream, 26 km from the Mut-Ermenek highway, in the southwest direction of the Mut district of Mersin. It has a total installed power of 159,375 MW with 3 generators, each of which is 53,125 MW, and its annual generation capacity is foreseen as 528 million kWh.
The construction of the Gezende Dam, located in the Göksu Basin, started on October 24, 1979.
The supply date is 14 June 1988 and the energy tunnel and hydroelectric power plant's supply date is 2 May 1990. The power plant, the construction of which was completed on October 17, 1991, was put into operation in 1994.
The body volume of the dam, which was built in the thin arch concrete body type, is 98.850 m³, the body height is 71 m, and the crest length is 120 m. The lake volume at the normal water level of the dam is 54.6 hm³ and the lake area at the normal water level is 2.844.500 m². The water feeding the turbines reaches the power plant through an energy tunnel of 8,543 meters from the dam lake.
