SUAT UĞURLU HEPP
Suat Uğurlu Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant was built on Yeşilırmak River, 15 km south of Çarşamba town of Samsun and 13 km from Ayvacık district. It has a total installed power of 69 MW with its 3 generators, each of which is 23 MW, and its annual production capacity is foreseen as 350 million kWh.
The construction of the 1st and 2nd units of the Suat Uğurlu Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant located in the Yeşilırmak Basin was started by DSİ in 1975 and electricity production was started in 1982 after the assembly was completed. The third unit, the construction of which started on 10.03.1994, was put into operation on 15.12.2000.
At the beginning of the construction the Hasan Uğurlu Dam in 1971, it was named after Suat Uğurlu, who lost his life in a traffic accident together with his wife, DSI Samsun 7th Regional Director, Hasan Uğurlu. The dam was built after the Hasan Uğurlu Dam in 1971.

The body volume of the dam, which was built in clay core rock fill type, is 2,330,000 m³, the body height is 38 m, and the crest length is 380 m. The lake volume is 182 hm³ at the maximum water level and the lake area is 9.70 km² at the normal water level. The generated energy is transferred to Çarşamba Transformer Center via 154 kV energy transmission lines.
