KRALKIZI HEPP
Kralkızı Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant was built on Maden Stream, which is the main branch of the Tigris River, at a distance of 81 km from Diyarbakır and 6 km from the town of Dicle, within the borders of Diyarbakır province. It has a total installed power of 94.5 MW with 2 generators, each of which is 47.25 MW, and its annual generation capacity is estimated as 146 million kWh.
The construction of Kralkızı Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant, located in the Tigris Basin, started in 1985 and water retention began on October 25, 1997 and its construction was completed on December 30, 1997 has been finished. Production started in 1998.
The body volume of the dam, which was built in clay core rock body fill type, is 15.17 hm³, the body height is 113 m, and the crest length is 1.030 m. At the maximum water level, the lake volume is 1.934 hm³ and the lake area is 57.50 km². Kralkızı Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant was established to produce 80% irrigation and 20% electrical energy. The dam also acts as a storage for the Dicle Dam.
