HASAN UĞURLU HEPP
Hasan Uğurlu Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant was built on the Yeşilırmak River, at a distance of 35 km from the Samsun-Trabzon highway, 7 km south of the Ayvacık district of Samsun. It has a total installed power of 500 MW with its 4 generators, each of which is 125 MW, and its annual production capacity is foreseen as 1 billion 217 million kWh.
Hasan Uğurlu and Suat Uğurlu Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plants located in the Yeşilırmak Basin were designed by DSİ within the scope of the Lower Yeşilırmak Project. The construction of Hasan Uğurlu HEPP started in 1972, the first two units (2x125 MW) were put into service on 2 and 28 December 1979, and the other two units were put into service on 29.12.1982 and 06.02.1983, respectively. Hasan Uğurlu Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant was named after DSI Samsun 7th Regional Director Hasan Uğurlu, who died in a traffic accident during the initial stages of construction in 1971.
The body volume of the dam, which was built in clay core rock fill type, is 9.600.000 m³, the body height is 179 m, and the crest length is 405 m. The lake volume at the maximum water level is 1.018 hm³. The generated energy is transferred to Çarşamba Transformer Center via 2x380 kV energy transmission lines.
