GÖKÇEKAYA HEPP
Gökçekaya Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant was built on the Sakarya river, 45 km northeast of the Alpu district of Eskişehir. It has a total installed power of 278.4 MW with 3 generators, each of which has a power of 92.8 MW, and an annual production capacity of 400 million kWh is foreseen.
The construction works of Gökçekaya Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant, located in the Sakarya Basin, started in 1967 and were completed in 1973 and put into operation.
The body volume of the dam, which was built in the type of concrete arch with variable radius, variable thickness and curvature, is 715,000 m3, crest length 493.66 m, body height 115 m. The lake volume at the maximum water level is 975 hm³ and the lake area is 22.3 km². Gökçekaya Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant is the first arch type dam built in Turkey.
