ALPASLAN 1 HEPP

Alpaslan-1 Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant was built on the Murat River, 50 km from Bulanık and Varto districts of Muş and 100 km from Muş province. It has a total installed power of 160 MW with its 4 generators, each of which is 40 MW, and its annual generation capacity is estimated as 488 million kWh.

The construction of the Alpaslan-1 Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant, located in the Euphrates Basin, was started in 1995 and the power plant was completed in 2012 and started to generate electricity. Turbine and generator assembly was done by TEMSAN Inc.

The body volume of the dam, which was built in clay core rock fill type, is 2,993,095 m³, its body height is 88 m and its crest length is 570 m. At the maximum operating level, the lake volume is 2.903 hm³ and the lake area is 115 km².
